Once my friend told me that I would like to make a brand, therefore I want to make people search for my brand rather than having people searching my product through a generic keyword. It is true if you have millions of dollars to spend in your marketing campaign that people are actually curious about your brandname and give it a search.
So you should actually optimize base on what others might type. For example if you manufactures Teddy Bear, target “Teddy Bear Manufacturer” rather than “Teddy Bear”. As personally, I would think that people typing the word manufacturer are mostly distributors, importers or wholesalers. Most probably your are also not geared to sell goods directly to end users. Secondly, it is much easier to compete in this niche keyword rather than competing with B2C and B2B keyword.
Try not to be bias and be open about keyword people might actually typed. Some misspelling keyword are also great target as competitors might be low or even none. Think of what others might type if they are looking for your products or services.
