Today I was thinking a bit about Internet Marketing, it is actually involve some common sense, creative ideas and some knowledge about the world wide web. Because it covers the whole marketing chapter, someone could simply come out with a new idea of generating traffic to your website and call it the ultimate Internet Marketing, until the technique becomes saturated and not effective anymore.

Some technique may not be re-apply like the buying text link (although it is still used), while other technique could be use again and again. Basically, Internet Marketing is the bigger picture that includes Search Engine Optimization, Social Network Marketing, Retaining Traffic, Studying Analytics, Email Marketing, Search Engine Marketing, and even offline Advertisements that could potentially bring traffic to your website.

I believe this sort of marketing gives the smaller companies a better chance against the big boys because there are some form of Internet Marketing that might not be purchase with money like the Search Engine Ranking and Creative Ideas.

Image plays a role in SEO

There are times where image could actually give you a competitive edge in the Search Engine Ranking. If you look at the print screen on top, you could see that the images of the “370z” actually ranks first compare to other link. There is a need to click twice in order for a visitor to go to your homepage via image search result, but because others may not play much attention in this, you may just slip your website into the top much easier and quicker.

What do you need to do?
So far, I learn that the alt tags and the title tags does play a big role. Meaning that to include your keyword in the image. You could also choose a long-tail keyword to avoid more competition.

Also I have found that the word picture in the page does help you to get your page on the image search result easier.

Age of Domain in SEO

Age does affect a domain ranking in the Search Engine. This is because domain are so cheap this days that a lot of people could easily buy a big bulk and hope that some website actually makes it to the top of the search engine. Some even argue that if you register a domain with by paying more than a year, which means that the expiry date is much more further away, the credibility is also much better.

Of course there is no way to cheat or change the age of domain, but it is always easier to do search engine optimization on a domain that is existing rather than doing it from the scratch. But if you are already thinking of SEO when you purchase your domain, it does have a good advantage having the keyword in the domain.

If you intend to do some Search Engine Marketing(SEM), here is a great entry point with Google giving you a free RM100 to start your trial on Internet Marketing. RM100 is actually very little but you can set your adwords daily budget and keyword daily budget. Rember to target only local region if your potential customer is only in Malaysia.

Some tips that I would offer you if you are new to this. Try not to buy single keyword, as the term is too large and your budget will quickly finish. If you only wants search traffic, specify the option, or else blogs and third party website will show your ads too. There is time option too, don’t let your budget finish before 3am and rest of the day your ads no longer appear.

Our Very First Email Marketing

We are new in this and this is the very first time we are using a tracking software to track our email sent out via our mailing list. From this scenario, we extract the whole list of users from the database who verified their email, as you do not want to send to mail that would most probably bounce back. About 7k subscriber was sent and 133 clickthrough our links. This is a list which was never sent out any mail at all, and we had quite a high bounce rate because some email is no longer valid today. If taken out the bounced email, the email have a success rate of slightly more than 2%. Which is still an additional traffic and bring some return users.

Overall, we find email marketing very interactive as we could have a joint effort with some companies to push certain advertisements and at the end, it would all benefit the users.

There is no fix and guarante answer for SEO, if those SEO company providing guarantee, it is either they are taking the risk, they do not understand it totatly, or simply providing lousy keyword until top three pages. It is very obvious that no one goes to the third page and even second page is rarely click unless first page really gives unrelavant search result.

Google just recently release a document for SEO Report Card, this will definitely help a lot of us (even me) understand how we could optimize out site better. Although scorring is quite subjective, we could still base on the important point to build our website.

I thought that it would be nice to share some of the method that I will be using in my SEO service with others, so I will be constantly blogging about some SEO guide, Internet Marketing findings, Social Marketing tips and will mainly targeted towards a geographical region of Malaysia.

It is important to let the search engine know what is your page about, having H1 and H2 tags will give the googlebot a clear idea of your page, as we know that most website does not carry the dynamic title tag, and meta description, but we will emphasize on this in the near future.
